About Us
-
Outdoorsy Muslims began as a simple idea to bring people together outdoors. Friends invited friends, and what started as a single walk quickly grew into something bigger. One walk became Orlando Muslim Run Club, one bike ride became Ummah on Wheels, and a search for Ramadan volunteer opportunities led to Outdoorsy Muslims Give Back.
Since launching in March 2025, our community has hosted weekly Sunday runs, monthly bike rides, and regular outdoor adventures including hiking, kayaking, fishing trips, shooting sports and scuba certifications. These programs introduce people of all experience levels to outdoor recreation in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Today, Outdoorsy Muslims is a growing community centered around movement, adventure, and service—creating spaces where people connect, challenge themselves, and build lasting friendships.
And we’re just getting started.

Outdoorsy Muslims is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit expanding access to outdoor recreation for diverse and underserved communities. Our mission is to connect families, youth, and young professionals with nature through inclusive outdoor experiences that promote healthy lifestyles, environmental stewardship, and meaningful community connection.
Through beginner-friendly activities such as hiking, fishing, kayaking, shooting sports, running, and cycling, we help remove financial, cultural, and knowledge barriers that often prevent individuals from exploring the outdoors. Our programs prioritize safety, education, and responsible outdoor practices while creating welcoming spaces for participants experiencing outdoor recreation for the first time.
At its core, Outdoorsy Muslims creates opportunities for Muslims to stay active outdoors while building friendships and strengthening community rooted in faith, respect, and shared adventure. By fostering belonging in nature, we encourage lifelong appreciation for natural spaces and responsible environmental stewardship.

At Outdoorsy Muslims, our values are rooted in faith, respect, community, and stewardship of the natural world.
We strive to create a welcoming and uplifting environment where people can stay active while honoring modesty, personal boundaries, and Islamic character. We believe in leading with kindness, encouraging one another regardless of pace or experience, and fostering accountability both on and off the trail.
We are committed to caring for the environment by practicing responsible outdoor recreation, respecting wildlife, and protecting the natural spaces we explore. By promoting a “leave it better than we found it” mindset, we aim to instill environmental awareness and stewardship within our community.
Safety, inclusivity, and mutual respect guide everything we do — from how we organize our activities to how we support one another as a community.
Above all, we aim to represent our faith with integrity, compassion, and good character, trusting that every step we take together brings us closer to health, connection, and the pleasure of Allah, inshaAllah.
